A Fly in fly out weekend in Perth....

Doesn't give you much time with the family but faced with the possibility of not seeing the kids and grand kids until next year we decided it just had to be.  Bill had to go for work on Monday and Tuesday so we took the opportunity to fly over on Friday night and I flew back on Sunday night to start work on Monday morning.  A big trip but well worth it.

With a dreadfully cold week in Melbourne we were certainly looking forward to Perth's milder climate but the weather gods didn't play fair and it was cool and damp there too.  Needless to say it fined up when I left and Bill had two lovely days in the 20's before coming home to a very chilly 13 on Wednesday.

Leaving Melbourne in a storm the plane was delayed by over an hour so we didn't arrive at Anne and Paul's until 1.30am. Once inside it was straight to bed for two very weary travelers.  We caught up the next morning and enjoyed a couple of hours with them over breakfast.  From there we drove down to see David, Sarah, Corbyn and Amelie for an hour before jumping back it the car and driving up the freeway to Merriwa to see Gareth and Taegan.  It was my first visit to their new home and also to meet their new babies, Whisper and Rowdy, two beautiful Ragdoll cats.
Taegan had invited us all up for lunch and so soon after we arrived so did the David, Sarah and the kids and we all enjoyed a lovely afternoon together.  Taegan thrilled the two kids with her little 50cc motorbike and with Mum and Dads permission Corbyn and Amelie had fun getting rides around the back garden.  Scooter, the shepherd, also enjoyed this game as he ran along beside them for each circuit.  The looks on their faces were priceless as they went from not so sure on the first round to delight as they enjoyed the rides.
We had a great afternoon and loved spending time with you all and a big thank you  to Taegen and Gareth for organizing it.  All too soon it was time to head back home to Anne and Paul's and once there we all went round the corner for a yummy Chinese meal before settling in at home with a drink or two.  A lovely end to a great day.

The next morning we had a very slow start spending a few hours chatting and then it was time for me too pack my little bag and head out again.  On the way we made two stops first to Debs and Johns to say hello and check out how the new house is progressing.  Almost finished now it looks fabulous and I hope it's not too long before you are moving in and enjoying all your hard work.
Our second stop was too have lunch with Tammy and to see their new home in East Victoria Park.  We were a week too early to see Paul who was arriving home the following week but we loved the house guys and will be back to visit again next year. We had a yummy lunch at Christina's on Albany Hwy and the Calamari Salad was so good.  Just a bit too much but we did manage to munch our way through most of it.

The time passed quickly and soon it was time to say goodbye again and Bill drove me back to the airport to catch my ride home.  As usual there was a short delay but we more than made up the time on the way home and I walked into the apartment at 11.30pm.  That time difference is a bit tricky but with the busy days and late nights we had had I was ready for bed and slept like a log.  Getting up for work on Monday morning was a bit of a challenge but I managed it and survived the day.  It was an early night for me that evening.
The week in Melbourne was extremely cold and wet and once Bill was home we remained locked up inside each night with the heater on.  We are looking forward to spring but no signs of it yet.

And so I'll finish my tales here as we work out what to do next week

Until then...........
