Birthday 'Blues'

First of all I'd like to say thank you to everyone who sent cards and text messages kindly reminding that I am another year older. Yes, this last year has flown by seemingly quicker than the one before and it was time to celebrate once again. Of course now you all think that I was sad and blue over the big day but not so.

We decided that we would celebrate in style and headed off to Queenscliff with Astrid, Hans, Verity & Leonie (who joined us from SA) to take a trip on the Blues Train. What a great night we had. As the name suggests it a night full of blues music on an old Steam train. The train runs out on an old line from Queenscliff to Drysdale and back again. There are 4 carriages, and a bar (of course). You start the night in one of the carriages and at the first station you all change. There is time for a quick visit to the bar for the essential bottle and then it's back to the business of dancing the night away. So a change at each stop makes 4 bands in one night.

We all stayed the night in B & B's in Queenscliff and we discovered it is a nice friendly little town. We had a wander round the afternoon before and then another look around after breakfast on Sunday. Wending our way home we checked out Pt Lonsdale & Port Arlington on the way. It was a very cold little town as well with the top temp only 7 degrees after hearing on the news that Sat was the coldest May day on record for the last 31 years. Well we did survive but thank goodness for the electric blanket at the B & B.

Monday morning saw Bill head to back the warmer weather in Brisbane & I braved the cold to go back to work. The mornings got progressively colder until the mercury could only mange 2.2 degrees on Saturday morning. The coldest overnight temperatures in May for 27 years. This morning was like the proverbial heat wave with 6 degrees.

This Saturday night we braved the cold and went to the Princess Theatre to see Guys & Dolls. It was an excellent production and we thoroughly enjoyed it. Another one we can recommend if it comes your way. The only bad thing about going was that we missed out on attending the 'Dreamtime' Game at the MCG, though with the cold and by watching the replay I'm not sure it was a bad thing.

Anyway with another week about to begin I'll bid you all farewell until next time...............
