Press P for pause

Hi everyone, we are still here though living life a little slower at the moment. Bill is on the final countdown hoping that there is only 4 more sleeps until he loses his metal companion. Hopefully the x ray will show his little fracture to be fully healed when he visits the Dr on Friday. We have all fingers & toes crossed. Once all is well we can then hit that button again, 'P' for play that is. He has kept busy working part time from home though I'm sure he is itching to get back to the real world sooner rather than later.

If we had to have a few weeks at home then at least he picked the right part of the year. This Winter has been a pretty chilly one so having an excuse to curl up in front of a movie with the heater on has been pretty good. And at least we stayed warm watching the footy as well though you just don't get the same atmosphere in the lounge as shivering at the game. We have wandered into town a few times during the day and regular trips to the markets as I have tried out a couple of new recipes - successfully I might add.

Our biggest adventure was last weekend when we joined Verity, Astrid & Hans for dinner at the Rainbow Hotel in Fitzroy. After dinner we saw Geoff Archison & the Souldiggers play. They were fabulous, a Blues Band, and the people at the hotel found us a nice little corner where Bill could sit and not get knocked around.

I braved the very cold weather this Saturday afternoon and went to another little pub in Fitzroy North and saw Mezz Coleman & her band of brothers play. Bill sat that one out and stayed home in the warm. I think he was the smart one as it was freezing. Still great to hear the guys playing again.

With winter chills keeping everyone rugged up, QV has decided to jazz things up a bit and they have opened an ice skating rink in the Square. People can skate day & night and are having a ball. A little like the frozen lakes of Europe, I guess. Not that I've seen it in action yet but I did pop up for the photo op before they opened one morning. And after you come off the ice there are plenty of places to 'chill out' and get warm again. I don't think we'll try it out this year but if they bring it back next year we just might be tempted. Maybe they will have a geriatric day.

Time to go and keep counting sleeps.

until next time................
