A lightening visit.....
to Perth the next weekend gave us a chance to catch up with family & friends. It is hard to believe that 4 months have passed since we saw you last time. Bill had to go over for work so I decided that it was time I did a fly in, fly out visit and joined him for the weekend. We had a great time staying with Anne & Paul again. So good to see you both and love the new deck, a big thank you for letting us mess up your spare room once more.
We spent Saturday morning at the shops with Sarah, David and the kids, shopping for Sarah's birthday. An important '0' I might add though of course I can't tell you which one. Once the shopping was complete we headed back to their house where we were joined by Taegan & Gareth for an afternoon of catching up and some much treasured Nana & Poppa time with the kids. A late afternoon catchup on the deck with Anne & Paul was next, before we left for a night at the basketball, where we were able to catch up with many other friends we have not seen since last year. And to finish off a wonderful day both Redback teams won their respective games - just for Bill I think! It was great to spend the evening with Ali & Steve again as well as spending some more time with Corbyn & Amelie before saying goodbye again for another few months.
The next morning we spent a few hours basking in the mild sunshine, breakfasting on the balcony and watching the world go by, before it was time to pack and say goodbye to Anne & Paul. Our first stop was a quick visit to Debs & John, just time for a coffee and chat followed by an inspection tour of the building site that is fast becoming their new home - it looks so good guys and I've picked my room out already - can't wait to see it finished. From there we drove on to Taegan & Gareth's home in Ocean Reef where we were meeting them for lunch. Love the cars, TV and the gardens for your big event in September. We had a wonderful afternoon and thank you Taegan for the lovely lunch you prepared. Before long it was time to leave and head back to the airport for our long trip home. It was a very short and sweet visit but we are so glad we were able to see you all and look forward now to our next visit in September.
We arrived home late that night though with the 3 hour time difference it wasn't really that late. It's the only time I don't like daylIght saving. It was two very weary people that woke up to the alarm the next morning to spend another week at work. We can rest & recuperate next weekend as we are staying home for a rest before Easter.
And that is just what we did the following weekend. A shopping expedition to DFO Southwharf took care of a few hours on Saturday afternoon and our first footy game of the season at Etihad Stadium took care of Saturday night. And Essendon won so an even better way to finish the day. Another lovely day on Sunday tempted us to walk to the markets, lunch at Panette's, and home to make some yummy Sweet Potato & Pear soup for dinner that night. And with daylight savings finished for this season we even got an extra hour in bed that morning - well that's the theory anyway.
Now at this point I should be leaving you saying that it is Easter next weekend and we'll be heading off to the great outdoors again. We were going to camp at Lake Bolac but Bill came home from a day trip to NZ on Monday night with the beginnings of a cold and by the next morning had a full blown flu that has taken hold and stayed and even as I write this on Easter Monday is still showing no sign of leaving any time soon. He saw the Dr last week and was told it was just a nasty cold, an understatement if I've ever heard one, and he just needed rest. Well we have done just that as leaving the house was not an option. I do think that he is beginning to improve this afternoon, albeit slowly, So there you have it, we have had a very quiet Easter weekend at home. We will get out and about again soon I'm sure and in the meantime we hope that you all had a lovely Easter wherever you were. Hope the Easter Bunny made it to your house and that you didn't eat too many when he did!
So on that yummy note I was leaving you, to go back to work the next day. Only one of us made it back for the four day week and even then I only worked 1 1/2 days. Bill had been very unselfish and shared. Not happy Jan and though I have not suffered as much as he has I had to leave on Wednesday when my voice gave out - no rude remarks here please - and have joined Bill at home for the last two days. So it looks like another quiet weekend here and we'll see what next week brings. Hopefully to be able to say goodbye to this damn cough & cold and get back out and about sooner rather that later. Take care and stay well.
Until next time.................
