What the?
was what we thought as we wandered around Federation Square over the last few weeks and saw these 'unusual' sculptures dotted throughout the place. A little bit of investigation found that the large potatoes with fork sculptures were in fact urban art celebrating the International Year of the Potato. Who knew?
Still they make an excellent tie in for our adventures of last weekend when Melbourne hosted the Good Food & Wine Show. We went along on Sat afternoon and came out at 6.30 with a definite smile on our faces. Lots of Chocolate and lots of Wine, who could complain about that? We are now waiting for a delivery of wine from a winery in Rutherglen and we have added that to our list of places to visit in the not too distant future.
We met our friend Robyn, who was working at the show, and headed off to Lygon St for dinner. Sale & Pepe, as usual did not disappoint and we had a great night sitting next to a large group from Perth who were drowning their sorrows after the Eagles spectacular loss earlier in the day. Of course we could understand their distress having watched Essendon go down again the night before.
Friday night we had gone along to the State Theatre to see My Fair Lady. Dinner afterwards finished off a great night and the walk home reminded us that winter has well & truly arrived.
Sunday was a day of rest as we recharged the batteries for the week at work and the prospect of more adventures on the Queen's Birthday weekend to follow.
Until next time........
