Freedom + Family + Friends = Fun

and just on the quiet, a little touch of exhaustion as well. Hi there everyone, thought I'd better get back in action or you would think we'd disappeared forever. No such luck, just a busy patch in the life & times of Rhossie & Bill.

Let's start at the very beginning (to coin a favourite song). Bill was finally given his freedom from the lovely neck brace that had been his constant companion for 6 weeks. While he bears it no hard feelings he was a very happy man to be free again. And yes, he is fully recovered. Our first weekend was another quiet one as he adjusted to being able to move in any direction again and then it was time to get out and about again.

As most of you know we headed to Perth the following weekend to say hello to Sarah, David, Corbyn, Gareth & Taegan. It was good to see them all again and spend some time together once more. And very special to see Corbyn walking all over the place now. How quickly they change & grow. Of course we also were able to catch up with some friends as well. Our Indian meal on Friday night with Debs & JT, Lance & Megan, and Lorraine & Hans was great.

Basketball on Saturday night was a great opportunity to say hi to lots of people we have not seen for a long time and it was great to see the Redbacks win the first game of the finals season. Dinner on Sunday night at Marg & Pete's was wonderful and catching up again with Steve & Ali a great excuse for non stop chatter. Like we need one anyway.

Monday morning came all too soon and I had to get up early to catch the plane home. Bill stayed for a week of work in the West and arrived home the following Friday night to have another Indian meal with Lorraine & Hans who had come to our place for the much awaited Eagles vs Essendon football game. Not another word about that game thanks, though we did have a good few days and enjoyed seeing them again.

A week later we had dinner with Rob & Jill who were here visiting their new little granddaughter. A great time was had by all and we only wish it could have been longer. Next time. With all this eating and the occasional drink, of course, we decided that a little exercise was needed so the following weekend we went to the zoo and spent the day walking and photographing the animals. Whatever exercise value we got during the day we put paid to that evening with yet another Indian meal with our friends Susie & Bryce. Another yummy night out.

The following weekend still in animal mode we discovered a Sanctuary in Lara and headed off early on Saturday morning. We spent another day walking and giving the camera a workout. After leaving Serendip we came home via the You Yangs, an area where granite peaks rise dramatically from the volcanic plains between Melbourne & Geelong. Although they are only 340 metres high they are very dramatic and dominate the landscape. The park is great for walking, mountain bike riding, horse riding and is one of the premier Rock climbing & abseiling areas in Victoria. As it was getting late in the day we just did a bit of a drive round and a quick walk to Big Rock which is one of the easiest walks in the park. It was extremely windy and not really the best time to be there but the view from the rock was great and on a better day would be worth exploring further.

Another night with friends last Friday when Marg & Pete stopped over on their way to NZ for more adventures in the snow. Sorry we can't come too, maybe next year.

So there you have it all. Fun, it was and really great to see everyone. And before complete exhaustion sets in we are off for the weekend to explore areas further afield. We are looking forward to finding new places and will be back to let you know what we have found.

Until next time...................
