And then it was winter
Our beautiful Indian summer came to an abrupt finish with a return to cold wet weather just in time for the Anzac Day holiday. Bill & I were both recovering from the dreaded lurgy and were looking forward to getting out again on the weekend. Our return to civilization began on Friday night with dinner at a newly discovered Japanese restaurant in Flinders Lane. We met friends, Jennifer & Ben, and had a lovely evening and a great meal. It was good to be out and about again. Saturday morning was time to visit the hairdresser and once the pampering was over I met Bill for lunch at Lorca in Centre Place, one of our favorite Melbourne Laneways. On Sunday we headed off to have lunch with Mum, Maree, Faye, Rem & Ethan at Seed in Mordialloc. As we will be away during May we will miss Mother's day, Rem's birthday & mine so we decided that an early celebration was in order. We had a lovely afternoon and it was good see everyone again. We made it home before the change in weather but once the rain started it really set in for the week.
On Anzac day any ideas of attending the Dawn Service were shelved when I woke up to pouring rain and freezing cold that morning. After lunch we piled on the jumpers, coats, hats & scarfs and set of with the umbrellas to the MCG for the big game. Essendon vs Collingwood. Our favourite Collingwood supporter, Bianca, has moved to Canada for a couple of years leaving us to attend the big game on our own. It seemed very strange to be there without her but she kept up a running commentary during the game on Facebook. Technology is amazing eh! Me in the top level of the MCG and Bianca in Ottawa and instant communication complete with Photo's. All on a mobile phone. I bet Bell never imagined this when he invented the first telephone. The sad part of this story is that Essendon lost by just one point - heartbreaking but a good game.
Thursday night we met Susie & Bryce for dinner in South Melbourne at the Blue Room. Another good night was had by all and now with just one more day left at work excitement is building as we look forward to our next big adventure. We are leaving for England & France on Saturday. Will keep you posted along the way. Until next time........
