Perth, Pemberton, People

After a busy March, Easter gave us a chance to take a moment, slow down & smell the roses. Well, that was the general idea anyway.

A plane ride to Perth started off our Easter adventures the weekend before, arriving late on Saturday night we had some interesting moments checking into our chosen lodgings for the week but had somewhere to call home within the hour. All was well.

The Elephant & the Wheelbarrow was the place to catch up with friends (people) for a drink or three on Sunday afternoon. It was wonderful to see you all again - thanks to everyone who came to play. Lunch & Dinners with family & friends were the order of the next 3 days as well as just wandering around taking in the sights & sounds of the city (Perth) between visits. Not a bad way to spend a few days.

Thursday morning and the bags were packed once more and we were off on our travels South. Lunch, and a wander around the tranquil setting of Stirling Gardens in Harvey, made a nice break after a couple hours of driving. Manjimup was our next stop, stocking up on all the neccessary staples for the Easter weekend. Wine, cheese, Hot Cross buns & Eggs (only little ones), and then it was on again for the final leg of our journey to peaceful Pemberton where we were spending Easter on the verandah with Jill & Rob. Marg & Pete joined us a short while later - still in time to share the 1st bottle of sparkling red, or maybe it was the 2nd.

The Easter break was spent enjoying all of the above, good friends, good food, good wine & good times. The verandah was as relaxing as always, the Karri just as majestic & Pemberton buzzing with the activities of a country town - the town market, the antiques fair and the inagural Art Show, which was an exhibition of photgraphs most taken by local people. Some of these were particularly good with one of the photo's intriguing us when we found out that the subject, Goblin's Swamp, was actually just a short drive away. Of course we embarked on a mission to find it and when we did were amazed at how unusual it was. We could have been on another planet with all the bent & twisted trees just in one small location. An ideal setting for a fantasy story/film, complete with Goblins, to come to life.

A long day travelling on Monday saw us cross the country from South West to East and arrive home safe & sound that same night. I do hope that you all enjoyed your Easter break as much as we did.

Life in the 'big smoke' has returned to normal again, Football at the MCG on Saturday, a walk to the Market on Sunday and back to work again this week. Who knows what adventures this coming weekend holds.

Until next time ............
